10 Signs You’ve Found Your Creative Tribe
Celebrating chosen family & shared magic.
Last Saturday, on the summer solstice, I had the deep honor of celebrating the wedding of my dear friends Tillie and Rua, two radiant, creative souls who are not only deeply in love, but also part of a larger love story: the one we share as a community.
Rua is a powerful member of our SpiritWild healing performance group, and Tillie, whom I was introduced to by a co-worker as a fellow house music lover, is a brilliant nutritionist. I invited her as a guest to SpiritWild’s first fundraising event in 2023, a Full Moon Magic gathering at our secret immersive art loft.
After our Burn and about eight months later, I learned they had started dating. SpiritWild and I continued creating with both of them, collaborating on wellness offerings, immersive tasting experiences, and cross-disciplinary gatherings, all grounded in curiosity, creativity, and deep care.
So when Rua and Tillie asked me to be their dancing flower girl during their ceremony, and invited other members of SpiritWild to perform live music throughout the celebration, the answer was an easy, joyful yes.
SpiritWild members even surprised them with a Flash Mob of our tribal dance, wearing costume headpieces from our Burning Man performance, offered as a heartfelt gift for their wedding day. The dance floor lit up with joy as other wedding guests joined in. The feeling the day created was a living ritual of art, love, and community.
It reminded me; when you find your creative tribe, life becomes a series of celebrations; of each other, of the work, of the weird, the wild, and the beautiful.
Here are 10 signs you’ve found your creative tribe:
1. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐧 (𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐬)
Your tribe doesn’t need you to be polished. They honor your process, your breakdowns, your wild ideas, and your vulnerable truths.
2. 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞
Projects flow. Even when it’s work, it doesn’t feel heavy. You’re allowed to follow your curiosity.
3. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧
Their success genuinely uplifts you and yours does the same for them. They are your muse as you can be theirs.
4. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐚 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐧
Movement, music, a glance across the room... your creativity is in sync without explanation. And like Erykah Badu says, “I’m an artist and I’m sensitive about my shit…” is understood.
5. 𝐑𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐬, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬
Solstice weddings, full moon circles, spontaneous performances - your time together feels intentional and sacred, not just scheduled.
6. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐞𝐢𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬
No idea is too “out there.” In fact, the weirder it is, the more everyone leans in with excitement. The crazier the costumes the better.
7. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦
They challenge you. They expand your vision. They help you level up by reminding you who you really are.
8. 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫
Rehearsals, costume builds, 1 a.m. brainstorms, phone calls from overseas, none of it feels like a chore when it's with your people.
9. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞𝐬, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬
It’s not about having the same look, it’s about having the same heart. Healing, justice, joy, freedom, expression.
10. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫... 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝
When you're with your tribe, you feel like the artist you dreamed of becoming. The one who creates from soul, with your spirit and community uplifted
SpiritWild brought us together, but the love we’ve built is what keeps us circling, dancing, showing up. Thank you to my creative tribe for reminding me what’s possible when love is art and art is love.
To everyone still seeking your creative people: they’re out there. Keep creating, keep sharing, and keep saying yes. We need community the most during times of uncertainty.
The solstice may have passed, but the light is still rising. ✨
